REACH was originally an EU regulation concerned with the Regulation, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of Chemicals which was first implemented in 2007.
There are now several versions of this legislation covering different geographical regions of the world including Turkey, Korea and most recently the United Kingdom.
UK REACH applies to the vast majority of chemical products placed on the market in the UK. The regulation requires manufacturers or importers of substances to submit a safety dossier containing details of the substances, intrinsic properties and detailed risk assessments for known uses.
The intention of UK REACH is to provide a high level of protection to human health and the environment from the use of chemicals, and to make the people who place chemicals on the market, responsible for understanding and managing the risks associated with their use.
